Tooth-colored restorations are practically invisible to the naked eye. Better still they contain no mercury which is a major component of the old amalgam (silver) fillings. In addition, they help secure your teeth better by bonding to tooth structure, providing greater protection against any further possible damage. If you want to brighten up your smile, replacing old fillings with tooth-colored restorations should be part of your overall treatment plan.
Crowns & Bridges
Crowns are permanent solutions for chipped, broken, badly damaged or missing teeth. They are produced for individual, existing teeth that need structural and/or cosmetic improvement. A crown will support the tooth where there is no longer sufficient tooth structure left to place a filling. Bridges are essentially a series of crowns fused together to replace a missing tooth or gap, while anchoring the additional tooth to adjacent teeth. In both cases, the material can be color-matched to the rest of your teeth to create a natural, pleasing appearance.
Partials & Dentures
Partials and dentures are removable appliances that are used in those instances where crowns and bridges are impractical. For example, if you are missing multiple teeth or they need to be extracted, there may be no way to anchor a bridge, which makes a partial or implants necessary. Or if your entire upper or lower set of teeth are missing or need to be removed, dentures or implants become the logical solution.
Many times, when a tooth is badly damaged, a root canal represents a viable alternative to more extensive procedures such as an extraction and a bridge. The root canal serves as a way to eliminate or prevent ongoing tooth pain or sensitivity, while allowing you to keep your original teeth for as long as possible. With proper antibiotic treatment and modern anesthetic techniques, a root canal need not be the unpleasant experience it was years ago

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INDEMNITY, PPO, HMO, & DISCOUNT INSURANCE?
Indemnity or Traditional Insurance reimburses members or dentists at the dentist's UCR (Usual, Customary & Reasonable fee). This allows the subscriber to go to any dental office without being limited to a panel.
(Preferred Provider Organization) is the most common form of insurance. They provide members with a list of participating dentists to choose from. The dentists on this list have agreed to a lower fee schedule, which provides you with greater cost savings. They also assist with insurance billing. Most companies pay 50% on major treatment (crowns, bridges, partials), 80% for basic care (fillings), and up to 100% for preventative care (exams, x-rays, basic cleanings). Annual maximums generally range from $1,000 to $2,000.
Also known as capitated or prepaid insurance, was designed to provide members with basic care at the lowest rate. Participating providers receive a monthly capitation check for patients assigned to the office. This amount is only a few dollars and is intended to offset the administrative costs. HMOs generally don't pay for services rendered. Fees are usually greatly reduced, but the patient is solely responsible for paying the doctor.
